For this Weekly Fourcast, we caught up with Salt Lake City-based adventure photographer and Jaybird Ambassador Adam Clark. From Alaska to Patagonia, from desolate deserts to huge snowy peaks, and from the furthest reaches of the globe to his home Wasatch Mountains, Adam has shot adventure and authentic lifestyle photography for hundreds of magazines and commercial clients around the world. He calls “almost keeping up with a lot of other really great athletes and managing to convince them to get a few great photos” his greatest physical accomplishment, but getting after it and staying motivated often comes down to routine.
“It’s so easy to come up with excuses to not go,” he says. “As soon as I committed to getting out to do something every day, everything else started to fall into place.”
Whenever he needs a little push to get out the door, Adam looks to the same place we do—music.
Adam’s Recommended Podcasts:
Outside Podcast, What Awe in Nature Does for Us
Don’t forget to stop and smell the roses. Its easy to get caught up in: getting to the top, getting the shot, how many miles or how much vert. But being in awe is one of the most important parts of getting outside. Sometimes you have to stop and feel that.
The Firn Line, Uphill Athlete: Steve House
I enjoy living my fantasies through the stories of others. Steve House is one of the most badass mountaineers of our time. I’m never going to do what he has done, but it sure is inspiring to hear about it. And this one is fun to hear about how to get ready physically and emotionally for big adventures.
Dirtbag Diaries, The Modern Dirtbag
We all need a little dirtbag in our life. Camp 4 is the Mecca of dirtbags—I’ve never been and it was fun to live there virtually for 24 minutes.
Ear Hustle, The SHU
I’m not totally sure why, but I couldn’t stop listening to this. One of those episodes where I got home before it was done, and I sat in the driveway until it was over.
The Weekly Fourcast is a series of curated podcast recommendations from our athletes, ambassadors and employees. Every week, we’ll drop a new list of four shows and episodes that you need to hear, direct from the Jaybird crew—the perfect audio fuel for the week ahead.
