For this Weekly Fourcast, we caught up with Jaybird ambassador and Australian ultrarunner Jacqui Bell, someone who knows a thing or two about overcoming adversity. Two years ago while working in Bali, Jacqui was pulled off her scooter by thieves and sustained serious injuries, putting her in the hospital for two weeks and leaving her with over 200 stitches.
“After that I had to rebuild to be capable of what I was before. To make sure I got myself back on track I set a big goal, put a plan in place and went for it.”
In 2018, Jacqui completed the Four Deserts Ultra Series, running Namibia’s Namib Desert in April, Mongolia’s Gobi Desert in July, Chile’s Atacama Crossing in September, and Antarctica in November. Now Jaqui is on a quest to become the youngest person to complete an ultramarathon on all seven continents.
“A goal gives me purpose in my training and something to stay focused to work towards,” she says.
