Weekly Fourcast: Tim Howell

For this Weekly Fourcast, we caught up with mountain adventurer, BASE jumper, and Jaybird Ambassador Tim Howell. Tim’s early life as an African game ranger and Royal Marine Commando fueled his desire for the adventurous life he now lives. From climbing the Eiger and wingsuiting from the summit, to being the first person to fly a wingsuit in Vietnam and the only British person to perform a ski BASE jump, Tim travels the globe, looking for the next mountain to climb up and jump off.

“Music is always a motivator for me. I select my playlist according to the challenge I have set. Sometimes to boost energy and get my heart pumping, while other times to calm and relax when I need to focus. On solo missions music keeps me company, passes time and stops my mind wondering.”

“Music and movement are linked in our brains and through ancient rituals—music helps push me that extra step to the top of the mountain and get that last bit of push to help me hit my goals,” he says. “We put so many limits on ourselves. I love the saying that when we feel like we are done, we are really only at 40%. Keeping that in mind pushes me harder.”
