My Jaybird RUN buds will not turn on or charge, what can I do?

Visible or non-visible dirt or dust might cause your Jaybird RUN buds to not charge, turn on, or the charge case LEDs not working as described.

To clean your Jaybird RUN charge contacts, follow these steps:

Step 1

  • Check that the buds are being inserted correctly in the charge case

    • Fins and tips should be installed correctly

    • The charging case lid should close properly

  • Check the correct charge cable is being used

    • Use the Jaybird RUN charge cable

    • Alternatively, use a standard micro USB cable

Step 2

  • Blow on the charge contact points in order to remove any loose debris on the buds and charge pins in the charge case

Step 3

If the issue persists below are some options to clean the charge contact points on the buds and charge pins in the charge case using common household items.

Things to be careful of when cleaning:

  • Never use sharp or abrasive objects to clean the charge contact points on the bud and the charge pins in the charge case.

  • Only use small amounts of any cleaning liquid.

  • Never expose buds or charge case to any fluid directly. Place the fluid on a cloth or swab and then clean.

  • Make sure buds & charge case are completely dry before attempting to charge.

  • Be very careful around the charge pins on the case as these can bend.

  • Cotton swab

    • Use a warm, damp cotton swab (used for cleaning ears) to gently wipe the charge contact points on the bud and the charge pins in the charge case.

    • If needed, add a small amount of dish soap, to cut through any wax or grease.

    • Make sure buds & charge case are completely dry before attempting to charge.

  • Thin clean cloth (e.g. glasses cleaning cloth)

    • Lay a thin, soft, and clean cloth over the charge contact points and then use a paper clip (or similar) to push the cloth into the charge contact points on the buds and clean them. Make sure any cloth is clean of dust and dirt.

    • Use a similar method for the charge pins on the case but be careful and don’t apply pressure to avoid bending them.

  • Isopropyl alcohol

    • Use an alcohol swab or apply a small amount of isopropyl alcohol to a cloth or cotton ball.

    • Gently wipe the charge contact points on the bud and the charge pins in the charge case.

  • Air duster - high pressure air in a can with a tube

    • Apply a couple quick blasts of air to the charge contact points on the bud and the charge pins in the charge case. The air will get colder over time with a longer blast so a couple quick blasts are recommended.

    • Hold the bud at least an inch away from the air source.
