Firmware

The Jaybird Firmware Update Assistant allows you to update your Jaybird Freedom buds to the latest firmware. The current version 1.4.0 of the Jaybird Freedom firmware offers general bug fixes.

This requires either a Windows or Mac computer, as well as a data compatible USB cable. The USB charging cable that came with your Jaybird Freedom will work.

Please note that this Firmware Update Assistant is for Freedom only, NOT for Freedom 2. Freedom 2 firmware can be updated here.

The entire update process will take 5-10 minutes. Just follow the steps below to install the Update Assistant app.

How do I know if my Jaybird Freedom have the latest firmware?

There are two ways to check if your Freedom have the latest firmware.

1. Jaybird App

Install the Jaybird app and connect your Freedom buds

Android: Go to Menu → Support

iOS: Go to Headphones tab → Support

Your Freedom firmware will display after the app build number.

The latest firmware is v1.4.0 If you have an earlier version download the Firmware Update Assistant and follow the instructions.

2. Firmware Update Assistant

Download the Firmware Update Assistant and follow the instructions. The Update Assistant will tell you if your Freedom already have the latest firmware.

Please note: The Firmware Update Assistant will have a software version. This is different to the headphone firmware version.

If your buds are unresponsive after a successful update, put them back on the charger (connected to a power source) for a few seconds and then remove again. This will get them out of the unresponsive DFU mode after the update.
